dc.description.abstractThe article reveals the problem of shortage of natural gas in Ukraine as one of the key factors of national energy security. The present states of the fuel and energy sectors, the reasons for shortages of natural gas of domestic production and the perspectives of alternative gas extraction from shale are analyzed. The problems, environmental threats and risks associated with the prospects of development of alternative shale gas sources on the basis of detailed analysis of its production technologies are described. The comparison with the experience of shale gas extraction in the United States, where the technology was used for the first time, and with the consequences of violations of environmental safety is performed.uk_UA
