Abstract
The purpose of the article is to prove that the development of the energy sector towards
increasing contribution of renewable energy resources is part of implementation of
concept of sustainable development. Nowadays, the challenges for humanity are strongly connected with equal access to all kinds of goods including energy or water in order to ensure adequate standards of living. Wasteful exploitation of raw materials has caused a profound devastation to environment. Consistent implementation of environmental policies (including renewable energy resources) in the framework of sustainable development is a guarantee of energy security and actions taken by entrepreneurs to protect the environment.
