    A clinical case of a mixed testicular tumour with cryptorchidism in a dog of the Yorkshire Terrier breed

    Histological examination of testicular tumours in cryptorchid males allows determining the nature of neoplasia, prognosis of long-term consequences in the form of metastases, and defining the optimal method of treatment of the animal, which determines the relevance of research in this area. The aim of the work is to determine the pathohistological structure of neoplasia of the left, cryptorchid, and morphology of the contralateral testes in a Yorkshire Terrier male with unilateral cryptorchidism. General clinical, ultrasonographic, radiological and histological methods were used in the examination of the animal. The article presents data on a mixed tumour of the intraperitoneal left testis of a 6-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, which is an atypical clinical case. It was found that the characteristic ultrasonographic features of the cryptorchid left testis tumour were numerous isoechoic foci of different diameters (from 4 to 26 mm), hyperechoic septa, and tuberous contours with a hyperechoic capsule. At laparotomy, the altered testis had an uneven surface saturated with blood vessels. The section showed milky-white neoplastic areas separated by fibrous bands that did not correspond to the normal structure of the organ. Histological examination of the parenchyma revealed areas of similar rounded cells in the form of a group of shapeless masses separated by a fibrous barrier. Neoplastic tubules had a developed fibrovascular stroma with an eosinophilic necrotic area. The protein membrane also had numerous fibrous formations. The layers of multifaceted cells were located perpendicular to the basal lamina, often with central necrosis, and the testicular mass contained multifocal haemorrhages. Such signs are characteristic of the lesion of Sertoli cells and interstitial Leydig cells, which indicated a mixed type of tumour of the left extraperitoneal testis of the Yorkshire Terrier. The contralateral right testis was unchanged and corresponded to the natural morphological and histological structure. The prostate was normal on macroscopic and histological examination, which has not been previously reported. Six-month follow-up of the dog showed no signs of metastatic process. The practical significance of the work is to obtain new scientific knowledge about the development of mixed tumours of the testis in cryptorchid males and the prospects for the treatment of diseased animals

    Pathogenesis and pathomorphology of distraction trauma in the framework of pre-trial investigations of cruelty to animals

    The importance of identification and differential diagnosis of spinal injuries, in the case of polytrauma, the ability to distinguish the pathogenesis of various injuries are important and relevant both during clinical and during pathological examination of the animal’s body. The purpose of research is to provide veterinary practitioners and lawyers with strategies for identifying the cause (mechanism) of spinal cord injury and to assist triers of fact (decision-makers) in arriving at plausible and reasoned veterinary forensic conclusions. The research was performed using pathological and anatomical dissection and histological studies. It was established that damage to the cervical spinal cord due to traumatic bending of the neck was accompanied by partial or complete rupture of the intervertebral disc and destruction of the ligaments of the vertebrae. It was found that the hyperemia of the vessels of the meninges of the brain is the result of blood circulation disorders in the occipital artery and the caudal artery of the meninges, and mechanical damage to the integrity of the intervertebral discs or the destruction of the ligaments of the neck vertebrae led to various disorders of the innervation of various organs and systems of the body and ended the death of animals. It was proved that the distraction injury of the cervical spine led to the swelling of the medulla of the brain, haemorrhages of the caudalventral part of the brain substance. It was found that irritation of nervus vagus led to hyperemia of vessels of large (aorta and trunk of pulmonary artery) caliber, cranial mesenteric artery) caudal mesenteric artery and, accordingly, hyperemia of thoracic and abdominal organs. Application of research results will help in differentiation of various types of mechanical injuries of the spine (including differentiation from other pathological conditions of the body), determination of the area of the applied force vector

    Аналіз ветеринарної дієти для свійських котів PRO PLAN ® EN GASTROINTESTINAL за панкреатиту

    Панкреатит – це запальний стан підшлункової залози. Підтримка годівлі має основне значення у лікуванні гострого панкреатиту в людей, оскільки мінімізує інфікування й некроз клітин підшлункової залози, зменшує частоту поліорганної недостатності. Тому лікувальне голодування не призначають у разі запалення підшлункової залози як у людей, так і тварин. Годування котів за панкреопатології потрібно розпочинати якомога швидше, оскільки в окремих пацієнтів за зниження, або втрати апетиту розвивається ліпідоз печінки, що провокує ризики смертності. У випадках недостатнього самостійного поїдання корму твариною задля забезпечення потреби в енергії (RER) застосовують асистовану годівлю (пероральне годування / ентеральне годування через зонд). Ветеринарна дієта є адекватним вибором для свійських котів за панкреатиту, з огляду на високу засвоюваність, смак корму та враховуючи наявність супутніх захворювань

    Візуальна діагностика за патології підшлункової залози у котів

    Патології підшлункової залози є досить поширеними захворюваннями у свійських котів, зокрема запалення підшлункової залози. Вчасна діагностика дозволяє обрати оптимальний метод лікування тварини, що визначає актуальність досліджень у цій сфері. Метою роботи є обґрунтування інформативності різних неінвазивних методів діагностики панкреатиту у свійських котів. У обстеженні свійських котів використано загальноклінічні (огляд, пальпація, термометрія, аускультація тощо), рентгенографічні та ультрасонографічні методи дослідження. У статті наведено результати дослідження хворих на панкреатит котів різного віку (від 1 до 15 років), порід (безпорідні, сіамська, орієнтал, шотландська висловуха), статі (кіт, кішка). Встановлено, що характерними ознаками захворювання були дегідратація (83 %), ано-/гіпорексія (87,5 %), виснаження (84 %), блювання (75 %), болючість черева (65 %). За умови ультасонографічного дослідження виявлено нерівномірно потовщену гіпоехогенну підшлункову залозу оточену у значної кількості хворих тварин рідиною гіпоехогенної щільності, стінка дванадцятипалої кишки дотична до підшлункової залози була потовщеною, складчастою. За результатами ультрасонографії складно диференціювати гострий та хронічний панкреатит у свійських котів, оскільки наявність гіперехогенності паренхіми підшлункової залози вказує на фіброз її тканини і спостерігалася за наявності хронічного панкреатиту, але не часто. За результатами рентгенографії змін в органах черевної порожнини, або втрат їх архітектоніки не виявлено, що дозволило виключити окремі причини розладів роботи шлунково-кишкового тракту. Практичне значення роботи полягає в отриманні нових наукових знань щодо розвитку панкреатиту у свійських котів залежно від перебігу захворювання, моніторингу стану тварин, перспектив у наданні переваг при лікуванні хворих тварин у разі його ускладнення
